U.S. 1
The U.S. 1 Corridor Study was conducted as a joint effort among the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), Kerr-Tarr Rural Planning Organization, City of Raleigh, Town of Wake Forest, Town of Youngsville, Franklin County, Wake County and Triangle Transit (now GoTriangle) for the segment of U.S. 1 from I-540 in Raleigh to the northern intersection of U.S. 1/U.S. 1A (North Main Street) in Franklin County. The purpose of the study was to consider improvements to the facility to meet growing travel demand and to improve safety.
